There are numerous reports of a robocall being made in which a voicemail is left urging you to call a number in the 310-area code.  The message states that the call is from the IRS and threatens you will be arrested if you don’t take urgent action by calling 310-742-7135.  The message also threatens legal action.

“If you are ever suspicious about a call or voicemail you have received, do a quick search of that number on the internet,” said CSLEA Foundation Kenny Ehrman.  “You will quickly learn that many others have received the same call from the same number and that it is bogus.  Never return a phone call like that.

If for whatever reason you believe a call is from a government agency, call that agency directly do not call the number left in a voicemail.  IRS scams increase during tax season. Please be alert to avoid becoming a victim.
