Tip of the Week - December 7, 2015 - Protecting Packages Left on Your Doorstep
/Cyber Monday has come and gone and that means items you ordered online are on their way. If you're expecting parcels to be delivered to your home and there's a chance you won't be there the moment they arrive, alert a trustworthy neighbor who can intercept. The number of packages stolen from porches increases during the holidays. Don't forget to report any suspicious activity or people in your neighborhood. You are the eyes and ears for your neighbors and local law enforcement.
"Thieves literally tail the parcel delivery trucks throughout neighborhoods. They see marked boxes and they know what they are after," said CSLEA Foundation Chairman Kenny Ehrman. "Dogs in the neighborhood are already barking at the deliveries, so the thieves aren't attracting any unusual attention. They literally swoop in right behind the parcel delivery people. If you can't send your parcels to a work address, alert someone you trust to be on the lookout for your delivery."
